NRL Hunter Gear List

What Tac Tables are folks using? I would like a light, no frills option if it does the job. Looking at the LS Wild one but don't really know what all is available.
I really like my Salmon River tac table. Drilled and tapped the center with 3/8 so I could direct mount it to my tripod apex.

Do you have any trouble with the powder in the loaded ammo picking up moisture after it's loaded, or do you just shoot within a certain amount of time, or is just not a problem?
No that has never been an issue. The loads from last year's elk hunt chronod the same this year.

@BLJ

Did this today. JB welded a couple pieces together to make it more rigid. I’ll sand it and rattle can tomorrow.

Should work for who it’s for.

Welcome to my world. 😁
It looks great and I’m sure it will serve you well.

A couple other things I did were cut some hole in it to lighten it up some.
And I eventually added some bungees to keep my bag from sliding around.

Took a razor knife and made a bunch of deeper cuts on the board. It kinda raised the plastic making a very abrasive surface. Bag stuck to it good.

I don’t remember the dimensions but I was under a pound. Probably could have went a little smaller and been good.

I scuffed the board up a bit with some with 80 grit. I may try your razor approach too.

Why do people use these tac tables instead of an arca mount on the tripod? Is it just for speed or is there a regulation against that?

Some people don’t like being clipped in. You can get pretty stable with a bag on a plate, but the distance of the rifle from the tripod to the apex does make for more wobble. Probably the most ideal plate/bag setup would be a plate direct mounted to the apex

I can only speak for me, and I’m not very good. But speed and simplicity. I don’t have a ton of experience clipping in and out of a tripod head and throwing a bag on top is easy. I glass/range off the bag on the tripod too. Last year I put the bag on the tripod head without the TAC table and it worked fine, but I’m hoping this will be even less fiddly on the clock.

A plate on a leveling base would be a nice compromise without completely losing the ability to clip in.

For me, easier transitions from targets, uses the same bag for glassing, quicker to create a torque free position and easier to manage recoil with.

I can shoot fine clipped it, it just seems to take longer to get perfect npa, and follow ups become a little harder.

A bag directly over the tripod apex is my preference. Simple enough to eliminate potential failure points in the system, but capable enough to provide the stability and flexibility I need.
