Now that season is over..What are you doing to prepare for next season

Working on tuning my fixed single pin sight for saddle hunting. Not just setting it at 20, but tuning to shoot at different yardages and knowing my holds. Missed a number of opportunities last season from being too close to trails and having no time to shoot.

My state is a draw state so I’m currently waiting to find out what tags I’ll have in my pocket (I’ll find out in June) and when that happens I start with a thorough escouting of the area over a few days virtually picking an area apart and marking all my pins of possibilities such as bedding, food, water, and travel corridors and I follow that up with boots on the ground scouting I like to spend about 4-6 days (after work mostly if the area I draw is within 1-2.5 hours from me) scouting and picking an area apart looking for fresh sign in the escouting areas I previously marked on my maps, rubs from last season, old big buck sign and try to locate all the doe and buck bedding possibilities. Once I’ve got all that information plugged in to my maps of what I predicted escouting vs what I found with boots on the ground scouting ill overlay the information and start hanging cameras, from there I will spend every other weekend going to the area based on what my cameras are telling me and where the deer are heading and going to and further my knowledge of the area, move cameras around, and try to hone in on patterning bucks for the early season and keeping an eye and tabs on doe in the area and bedding and where to setup for the rut when that time comes but my favorite thing to do is pattern a mature buck and kill him early season (archery) before he switches to his fall pattern because we all know when the rut hits most of our target bucks hit the road to chase some tail! Good luck to y’all this upcoming season! Also I spend each day after work currently in the backyard shooting the bow, I try to go shoot the rifle and muzzleloader about 2 days a month to keep everything fresh, and I’m currently organizing all my gear (I run a lonewolf .5) and going over what equipment I don’t need to bring with me this year vs what I need to add based on experience of last season, that’s something I do each end of season is analyze what worked and what didn’t.

Working on redoing a box stand as I was cheap when I built it and used osb for the flooring🤦‍♂️.
Cleaning up food plot areas and trimming limbs. Here in western nc what do you plant in shady areas like an opening in the woods? I tried some tnt shady mix last year it came up good and got killed due to the hurricane.

Trying to get a couple food plots prepped in a timely manner and not be up against it come late summer getting them in, and most importantly getting more reps in with my bow!

Been shooting a lot of 3D and really dialing in the new bow. Messing around with Precision Cut Archery for my sight tape and have been really impressed with it - with a single reading from the chrono my sight tape is accurate out to 100 yards. Will fine tune the sight tape after turkey season with 20 and 60 yard chrono readings.

Also switching from a hinge back to a thumb trigger this season. Using the Carter Nock 2 It thumb trigger and a Carter 2 Smooth hinge to rotate during my practice sessions.

For arrows I went to the Easton Match Grade 5.0 with a 25gn SS HIT and Easton collar. Shooting 125gn Iron Will Single Bevels and trying the Evolution Hyde mechanical broadheads. Arrow is coming in at 443 gr and launching at 292 fps.

For whitetail hunting it trying out a new Custom Gear Modifications saddle. Can’t wait for fall!

Shooting a lot of archery and loving it. Shot the TAC in tn and had a blast with my new PSE Mach 33. Spending way too much on custom rifles thanks to you guys on here and now building my first ever rifle myself (tikka). Leaving to South Africa in 2 weeks and then Audad in south texas in September. Purchased a new custom muzzleloader that hits dead on out to 500 with me (900 with others lol) to take advantage of some muzzleloading season in Arkansas and maybe some “no rifle” areas in other states. Hitting the gym daily and trying to stick to my keto lifestyle but helping raise our 3 kids, run a company and be the best dad/husband/christian man I can be!

Oh yeah and just tried out my new no till drill for soybeans and it’s awesome!

I’ll have to check that site tape out. Seems cool!

Losing 45 lbs. I'm down 15 so far. I had shoulder surgery in February, so I have been working really hard to build it back enough to shoot my bow. It's healing way faster than I expected so it should be no problem. I had to switch to a crossbow two years ago. I've been scouting as I'm checking out new places to go trout fishing. I found one spot right next to a golf course that looks really good. I'll setup some cameras there in the next few months.
