I'm buying my first hang on stand and hoping to get thoughts from those more experienced.

I don't have any steps or anything so I'm looking at this novix package. Everything shipped for like 490. Is this a decent place to start or are there better options?

Thanks, just trying to make a good decision. s

I have the Lone Wolf Alpha II hunt ready system. Which is basically the same thing. It was a good first mobile set up I bought. After buying a set of beast sticks. Here is what I learned I liked better as well as what I didn’t like.
Not a huge fan of the single steps or the climbing stick quiver.
I modified my sticks with double steps and the brackets that the beast sticks use. They stack on top of each prefect. I then use 2 night eyes wire ties to tie them together. Strap them on my pack and the back straps onto the stand.
I am 6’3 and typically place the bottom step just above my knee. So in doing that I can hit roughly 18’ to the platform of the stand.

What type of stand are you looking for? A super mobile hang and hunt stand, one to leave out most of the time, somewhere in between? If mobile how long are your approaches typically?

I have novix and lone wolf stands, I like them but to me the echo is too large to be a “mobile/hang and hunt setup” unless you typically have very short approaches. Those sticks are fine, but they stack already so you dont need the plastic stick holder doohickeys, just stack the sticks and strap the stack vertically on the back of the stand using one of the stands’ cam-lock straps. Most of the time if I use those long sticks I bring only 3, and use a double-step aider on the bottom stick only.

My take:
If I was looking for a mobile rig from novix I’d get a helo stand (much lighter, smaller so it doesnt catch on brush) and a set of 4 shorty double-step sticks with cord or webbing 1-step aiders, and Id replace the cam buckles on the sticks with amsteel or webbing daisy chains.

If I was getting a stand to be more semi-portable (hike in a ways to leave it or for mainly very short approaches with a bit more comfort) then that kit seems good—Id be happy with that echo or similar with maybe 4 long sticks or 3 and a shorty, and plan to pull the bottom stick for security if leaving it on public.

Thanks. Mainly I hunt in my own property and my adjacent neighbors property. It's less than 50 acres total of woods that join ag fields on which I cannot hunt.

I can set the stand and leave it pretty safely, but want to be able to move it around easily as needed. Don't want to buy multiple stands so this seems like a good option.

Realistically, I will only have to move it a few times a season.

I have four Novix stands (2x Echo and 2x Helo) and am a big fan of both depending on the application.

For what you describe, the Echo will be perfect. I have a few sets of 20’ sticks set around on private land and will shift the Echos around to whatever makes the most sense at that point in time. I’ll carry a Helo if I’m hunting public land and don’t want to leave the stand out or aren’t 100% sure where I’m going to end up for that sit.

I’ve tried their sticks and wasn’t a huge fan, particularly since I don’t use a stand to carry my sticks. I have a MR Popup 38 and strap the stand between the bag and frame and my sticks to the front of the pack, so I like sticks that stack well.
