Going on first November archery elk hunt in Arizona. We will b in unit 23. Any body have any tips for me? Is there a lot of weather that time of year? Food and water sources to look for. Water pretty scarce that time of year? Do the elk move much at that time of year? Better to have time behind glass or cover ground on foot? Is there much migration or transitioning. Do they go on any type of secondary rut and bugle. Thanks in advance for the tips. Darrin

Weather that time of year is usually 20-65 degrees and somewhat windy. Not much rain and snow if any is very light. If it is your first year try to sit a water hold in the morning until about 9 a.m and then find a high spot to glass until around 2. Head to a new water hole or re visit the one from the morning. Water is in abundance and If you can find a spot to glass but if not, find a meadow with sign and sit there. You probably will run into late migrators coming down from around Flagstaff. Sometimes a bachelor bull will respond to a assembly mew but in my experience they don't respond back but will be interested and sometimes investigate.
If you have any other questions shoot me a pm and I will be glad to respond.

Thks for the info. I will send u a text when I get a second.

23 is a fairly rugged unit and can be remote. I highly recommend getting in shape as you will be doing some hiking. It is a great unit and should be a good hunt. It can vary from low desert to high pines quickly in that unit.i recommend a topo map and definitely spend time on google earth familiarizing yourself. Good luck!
