Does anyone have any experience with the Nosler factory offering of 7mm PRC 175 grain ABLR? Very little on the internet about the load, but seems like the ideal load I'm looking for. Just wondering if anyone has used any on game yet and what their experiences were.

Thanks!

What is ABLR in specificity and what makes it a better bullet. I would like to understand yur question better.

Accubond Long Range

Supposedly a touch softer than the normal Accubond to aid with expansion at further distances. I never said it was a better bullet than any other, but I do like the penetration of accubonds. Sounds like a nice mixture of expansion and penetration in theory.

I'm an Interbond long time fan. Interesting info on the ABLR. I'm very interested in the 7PRC in all it's forms of ammo/availability. Killed my desert this last year with a 6.5 PRC @ 580 yards and was very impressed. Had a 300 PRC on a very long range elk hunt and never got to pull the trigger. That gun was very accurate out to 736 yards, like 2" type accuracy at that range. Appreciate the info and follow up!

Did you end up going this route? Any in-field experience if so?

I loaded a ladder earlier this week (175 ABLR) with high hopes, after watching this weeks episode of little crow gunworks (highly recommend!) he mentioned them being finicky. Well I shot them yesterday and then some more today, I messed with seating depth from .010 off the lands to .025 off the lands. I could stack two then the third would fly out 3/4-1” or stack number 1 and 3 but number 2 would fly out. Which Tim also talked about in the episode, consistency.
I read a lot of guys using retumbo or LRT. I can’t find LRT locally so I bought retumbo tonight and will try more tomorrow. I’m shooting a seekins precision PH2 7mm PRC 26” suppressed. Gun usually shoots 1/2-3/4 MOA with factory ELDX rounds. I love the regular accubond, shot it for years and had very good success with it.

Sorry to bring it back up after so long, but did you ever find a load that shoots with the 175 ablr?

Yeah I did, took a bit of work but this seems to work alright for my rifle. 68 grains of H1k. .004 off the lands. 2995fps average, Half inch groups at 100, 4” groups at 500. I haven’t had a chance to take it out further but I will soon.

Nice. Ive tried them in 5 different rifles and struggled to get them to shoot. I think im going to try them in my new tikka 7 prc. If that doesnt work ill go to the 160 AB

I tried H1000 and had decent groups and decent speeds but nothing great. Tried retumbo and got more speed but groups opened up to about 1.25”. Went back to H1000 and really played with seating depths and found it. I had heard and read ABLR bullets like being pretty far off the lands, this rifle didn’t like that at all.

Good to know. I dont love touching seating depth too terribly much
