Northwest Ontario Whitetails

Have not heard anything about this past winter. Spent almost a week up there last October scouting. Was very disappointing. Saw very few tracks and very few rubs from previous years. Decided not to go for a few years, hoping the herd rebounds. Talked to a biologist from Kenora. He stated there very few deer, but that if hunted hard and smart enough you could still have a chance had putting your tag on one. Buck quality is not what it use to be. Lat time hunted up there was about 10 years ago and it was pretty good.

have a buddy has a cabin there south of Kenora, has been a while since I've hunted there but does sound like numbers are down, whether its winterkill or wolves etc. ?? Interested to see if others have more recent info....

Numbers definitely down.In the areas we hunt,a slight improvement last year.Uncertain as to winter kill.
Covid has stopped scouting by us.Will hopefully scout some by water after ice out if the border opens.
