Lots of friends being affected by these fires... a terrible scene in Oregon and central Washington. Hope everyone is hanging tight out there and let's pray for some rain. Impressive smoke model by WSU in case anyone is interested.

It's worse then any time in my lifetime. It is pretty common to have lots of fires in Eastern Oregon this time of year, but to have so much of Western Oregon (especially the northern half) on fire is hard to believe. I heard this morning that 10% of the population of Oregon has been evacuated now. I don't know if this is true or not, but looking at the areas burning near so many heavily populated areas, I can believe it. The crazy thing is, Washington and California have it just as bad right now. The whole west coast is on fire.

Man it was bad (thick smoke) when I stepped outside last night around 10pm in Spokane.

I'm in central WA and it was terrible with those east winds... agree with the other comment on Oregon - it's crazy. California is toast, too. Sad situation.

I left for eastern Oregon last Friday for archery elk. Went through Mill City, Detroit, Idanha, etc. Few days later we got some cell service on top of a ridge so we checked in with our families. Can’t believe how quickly we went from a few smaller fires to almost a million acres burned. We came back early (today) as we all live in the valley. I drove through thick smoke for 5.5hrs straight. At times I couldn’t see headlights on cars until they were maybe 100 yards out. I heard Detroit is gone and chunks of Mill City, Idanha and others as well. The entire valley got slammed. We need rain and we need it bad. Sad thing is most of the big ones are 0-5% contained.

It’s bad out there, glad you made it back ok. Big pile up this past week on 90 by Ritzville WA due to lack of visibility.

Air has cleared and fires have died down... quite a bit of damage in several places. A real whirlwind of a year.
