North Arm Knives: Lynx and Mallard

i ordered in august 2023 and i cant remember and it was offered only with one kind of steel.

here is the beginning of the order:
Blade:
Kermode 9 Inch Blades - Polished stonewash

  • Blade Finish:
    Polished stonewash

so cant tell if it s the s35v or the magna cut ...
They weren’t offering magnacut in 9” blades until mid 2024

Pretty sure in 2023 the fillet knives were all S35V. When I started this thread I did not get a fillet knife for that reason.

well i cant tell. i had two friends using the same fillet knive in bc with no issues so i thought i will give it a try for a gift ... it is now a nice display gift ... but the company offered some hints and even to examine the knife back, our friend was not intersted in the future use of the knife as it was not reliable for his use as fishing outfitter.
i cant tell for other knives or material used now.

I don't remember exactly when I got mine, but I posted here that I had it on 11/29/23 and it is Magnacut. 6" Kermode.

Bad heat treats can happen, are hard to detect through normal QC, and can cause these types of steel to be much less rust resistant than it should be. Not giving the company a chance to make it right is a mix of foolishness and stubbornness on his part that achieves nothing but causes him to miss out on using a great knife.
