Love to hear this, because I get dirty looks when I tell people I hunt with ELDMs!I should mentioned that I was using the Bondstrike in Africa but my buddy was using the 147 ELD-M. His animals died much faster than mine and he shot a few more large animals than I did.
lost one of the biggest bucks I've shot with that 143 bondstrike bullet. the ones that I did recover the blood trails were poor. would not recommend. much prefer eldm. everything i've shot with eldms hasn't gone more than 50 yardsI should mentioned that I was using the Bondstrike in Africa but my buddy was using the 147 ELD-M. I plan on using the 153.5's when I get a tag... My rifle shoots them awesome and I just used them on a whitetail hunt this year. Shot a good size doe at 100-125 yards, nice broadside. It was a higher shot, but didn't take out the backstrap. Exit was the size of a baseball... I'm guessing if the bullet can do that on a whitetail after 16" of penetration... should be good enough for elk.Would the Berger 156 gr EOL ammunition make a better bullet for elk hunting?

Nice cast. We'll see if anyone takes the bobber down.If you’re married to the 6.5, shoot closer than you think you should to keep it in the boiler room. That rules all and any bullet will work fine if you do. If you keep it sub 300-350 yards you probably don’t need the extra velo from the Norma 143. Take the extra umph from the Berger, just know you’re not gonna be a long range killer. Which I wouldn’t recommend anyway with a 6.5
My Franchi nailed the box numbers weirdly close. ELD-M & ELD-X were both a good 30fps slower if I recall.Tried them in my tikka t3x 24”, only got 2775 velocity vs box 2950 fps. Thats a hard pass!!
Nosler AB and BT are within 25 fps short of box velocity.
