If you like me and bought an ar 10 for hunting once you get it take it apart down to the last pin and put it back together your self as for some reason they don't think making sure things are tight from the factory it all that important.
i received mine last year just before hunting season last year brand new. fired 50 rounds and muzzle break comes off, I tightened it and in 10 more rounds it came off again. got back home ground about 1/4 off the spacer put the muzzle break back on went out shooting the next day all went well less then 1/2 moa at 300 yds. 2 weeks later while hunting for bear I inadvertently walked up on one about 20 feet the wind swirled it caught my scent and started to charge, I fired 1 round hit the bear it ran off tracked it for about 3 miles positioned my self for a kill shot took aim and fired hit way to the left at about 125 yds fired again hit low and 1 more time to the far left again bear runs off couldn't track it after that. get back to camp too the rifle apart found the barrel nut 3/4 turn too loose, gas tube loosely fit in to the gas block, charging handle was about to fall off. so I take down the entire rifle put it back together made sure all was as tight as it could be re sighted the rifle just in time for my 2013 season to be over. In May of 2014 I revisit http://www.onlylongrange.com/index.asp
only to find a recall warning on their website so I call and give them my serial number they said yes it was one of the affected rifles I told Becky who no longer works their that I was reluctant to let them fix the rifle as I don't trust their workmanship and told her the story and said if she can promise me the rifle will shoot as well if not better then it shoot's now and that every thing will be tight like a new rifle should be she assured me it would be so I sent it in. A week goes by I get the rifle back, they sent me an entire new upper and added a safety selector stop for the trigger safety so I go out to the range to sight it in and stepped on a rock and twisted my ankle and fell on my scope and broke it a week later I get my new scope go out to sight it in rifle shoots better and smother then the old version so I'm happy so by now the rifle has 50 rounds through the new version. next day after spending all night making hand loads Im back at the range found the pet load 54.9g 4350 with 180g Remington accutip interloc went back home made 50 rounds of the new load field striped and cleaned the ar went back to the range fired 5 shots in the same hole at 50yds, 1/4 moa at 100 with 5 rounds and about the same at 300. So I hand the rifle to my father as he has not shot this rifle yet. he fires and bulls eye. the bolt and trigger lock up. I take the thing apart to have the buffer tube retaining spring pop out as well as the buffer and spring. the tube was not tightened properly so it backed out 1/2 turn which let the buffer tube retaining pin to pop out and lodge in the trigger I sent them an email asking them to consider selling the BN36 as a kit because if they continue to put rifles together like this they are going to kill some one. they have yet to reply.
