Any suggestions for public land in late muzzleloader in NR Zone #3? I was itching for a road trip w my aging father, never hunted Iowa and decided to apply for a high probability tag. I'm not going to be very picky as I'm imagining the deer to be much larger than our PA deer. We usually tag out during the PA archery season, so similar to others we figured we'd give it a try.

Any pointers would be appreciated....guessing we'll be there around Jan 3-10, 2022. Thx

Good amount of public around Onawa area. If the weather's crap you'll likely be by yourself. Find a good vantage point and spend your first night glassing, or cruising roads seeing where the pockets of deer are hanging out. Pretty easy to pattern them late season.

Thanks S.T.C.....I appreciate that. Onawa was one on my short list., but having you confirm it makes me feel a little better about my preliminary research.

Public land seems to be pretty limited in Zone 3...maybe a nice one will wander off the private!
