I have never seen black on a ghillie and I have been around them a time or two. I wear and prefer camo on anything I take into the bush for humans, not game except bow accessories. Most look dumb in camo. I have a whole garage cabinet full of flat earthtones for getting rid of the shine and color on many things. It doesn't stick to Cordura very well though and the drytime is way longer for hunting gear to be 'scentfree'.
I am no fan of Mathews but their desert flat dark earth looking unit will be a big hit for our brothers returning from the sandboxes.
I like black....that being said, if they had had an optifade one in stock I'd have taken that. Prime charges $50 more for black but got this one for camo price
my local bow shop has a desert tan with black limbs creed xs, it is awesome looking. If I was in the market that would be my new bow otherwise im happy with all black
Manufacturers put camo on bows for the bowhunter, not the game. Having said that, black is the last "solid" color I would want a bow in (unless I only hunted from enclosed blinds). There are many environments where it is out of place. And while it would just be dumb@$$ luck to have an animal bust you due to your bow moving, I don't see a compelling reason to chance it. The point above about the bow being an item that moves a lot has some merit IMO. Just this past season I had an instance where I drew from behind cover (or so I thought), but I think my top cam and part of the bow limb were visible to the buck and put it on alert. I don't know if the buck's reaction would have been more adverse if the limb was black instead of camo, but it got me thinking....
I always thread pine boughs in thru my riser for extra camo. I've never actually had it work for me but the theory is to 'hide behind a branch' when getting scrutinized.
Last year there was a thread on another site with a fella that took a black Sharpie ( or twenty) and blacked out his bow. It looked better than you would think.
But I usually go for camo bows. I don't think black makes too much of a difference but to the human eye you can Definitly see movement more with black bows.
I've thought a brown riser would look cool. Like a dark brown one. I've always liked the look of white riser bows. Or the snow camo bows. They look pretty sharp.
I painted my matrix ASAT camo and have black limbs. I think it looks pretty sick and blends in nice for hunting.
I think the new black bows look really good. Camo has always been a no-brainer for me, as it is my favorite color. I always do max1 riser and limbs with all black accessories and flo-green/ black strings. Lately I have been eyeballing a blackout hoyt though. I think they look tough as hell. (That cerakote bow has me drooling too.
well im convinced. im going with a black bow. i may go camo limbs to match my camo FMJ's that i love so much. not real sure when i turned into a chick...
black looks amazing..but i like camo for hunting. for me it is probably purely a mental game that i "think" i am more invisible to an animal.
but bowhunting is so much of a mental thing anyways..i'll take it.
if pooped cash..i would have a black bow purely dedicated to my blind hunting for turkey..but no..camo is pretty black in the dark blind. black enough for my budget.
nice bows guys. my buddy hunted texas whitetail with a bright electric green bow. he did well.
Agree, its a mental game.
Just bought a black Elite, the Cerakote finish is badass. All my rifles are Cerakote finished, I dig the protection it offers...
Not all black but close and has the neon green strings, Black bow is like a Black truck looks great when its clean, but when it gets scratched or dirty it really shows. I went back to Camo this year
