No-sew connecting webbing

I've been wanting to create a load hauler/cargo net for my frame pack.

Has anyone experimented with adhesives or glues to attach webbing to each other? I'm not a sewer and wondered if this would be faster.

I wouldn't trust any adhesive to bond well enough to have the strength you'll probably need in this situation. and if it did, then I'd worry about the spot where the glue ends and long term durability right at that seam.

If I had to go no sew for this, I would just use knots. It may not look as pretty, but it will function fine.

Sewing isn't very difficult, and a lot of low cost machines could handle two layers of webbing, but I totally get not wanting to spend money on one if its only going to get used once.

you could always pick up a speedy stitcher. They are cheap, and would work fine for this use case with the right thread. It'll take a little bit of time, and may not be pretty, but it will function and lay flatter than using knots.

I have used an awl heated up and melted holes in the webbing and then used chicago rivets to secure it thru the melted holes. It has held on several projects.

get an awl as Tartan suggested

they are easy to use and you can repair stuff forever. about 3 stitches is all it will take to hold each strap in place..

If it's just for this one project, I'd take it to a seamstress. It would be only a few dollars.

Thanks for the feedback all. I think the rivets might be the way to go to start with.

I would take it to a seamstress (or the missus could be convinced) but first I wanted to mess around to see what I am happy with.
Im the person that prefers to plan as I build!

Anybody got a sling/load system they are happy with? (that might be new thread worthy)

Im picking up my KUIU frame this weekend but between wanting to tinker with the setup and always being surprised by the cost of simple pieces of equipment I thought it start myself.

I have used the speedy stitcher for many years. Terrible sewer myself but this makes me look like a pro. I sew things on my pack all the time when I think I need an attachment of some kind

Yep! Add some washers wider than the screw head if there's going to be a lot of weight
