After we got our 12-man SO, we ended up selling our 12x14 wall tent. We never used the wall tent anymore. The tipi is just so much easier to handle, setup, take down, etc.

Now we use the cylinder stove in the 12-man tipi.

It feels like I’ve never seen a 12-man look so small lol

We use a G Stove (smaller version of a cylinder stove) with our setup. Weighs about 20 lbs with pipe and arrestor inside and very packable in a llama pannier. Has a water heater that nestles around pipe at rear of stove and a clothes dryer that can be attached to the pipe to hang clothes, lantern, etc. It is the perfect size for the tipi and you can cook it on as needed.

This thread is not good. Never thought I wanted a 16man tipi. Large possibility I'll be trying at 16man tipi at some point for spring bear or an elk trip! Those look fantastic.

Your welcome haha. My party was first looking at a 14x17 wall tent and then the idea of a tipi was thrown out. I’ve been jumping between a 8,12, and 16 for the last few months. At least whatever I order it’ll be here in time for spring bear.

my seek outside 16man is a palace for 3 guys with cots. The Flex pitch option is awesome as well. Very happy with the quality.

Lets start off by saying that I am a big Kifaru fan boy, I have multiple packs and shelters from them. This spring I was hoping to get a tipi for bear season in Idaho and Montana. I don’t have the space to store or transport a wall tent. I was hoping for a 12-man or maybe even a 16-man tipi to fill this role and have as a basecamp for our group of 6 guys.

Well, I just called Kifaru asking if they would be getting their 18-man tipis back in stock before spring bear season comes around and I was told not to plan on it. It sounded like they don’t have someone that is able to sew them along with the fact that Kifaru is so busy that I shouldn’t hold my breath. I was told that I should go to another company if i am looking for any shelter above an 8-man tipi. I really appreciate the honesty but am very disappointed that they won’t have any larger tipis to offer.

So who has suggestions on a different brand? I only know of Seek Outside other than Kifaru, but I have no personal experience with their products. I need a tipi around the 12-man range but am thinking of going with a 16-man tipi for the extra space. Any suggestions regarding the size as well?
I have several SO products including packs and they are all GREAT.. On top of that the customer service is second to none..
