Pecos Wilderness Closure

Just wanted anyone who has a tag in 45 to be aware and follow along this summer. Hopefully they can get it back open before our seasons start. I drew the rifle tag oct 23-27th. Says it will be closed june-11 through december-31.

The forest service in NM has always been pretty aggressive with summer closures. Parts of the Gila shut down regularly every year too so check the USFS website for closures before you head out. Things tend to open right back up once the rain comes. Hope for the monsoons soon!

From what I recall, it's common for the closure notifications to state thru Dec-31. They usually reopen once the fire danger drops (i.e. rain). I've seen this multiple times over the years as it affects summer mountain biking in other areas often for at least a few weeks.

White mountain wilderness in 36 was closed and In the same boat at 45. It’s now open other than the burn scar. Only a matter of time until it opens back up.
