Anyone done it and care to share some insight?
I did a DIY in SW TX last year and loved it, but most all of TX is Private land and requires guide/outfitters.

Just curious what unit is best for public land OTC Aoudad Hunting in NM, that will at least get me started in the right direction. Thanks!!

Start by searching the threads that are already on here and read through them. Generally people are fairly tight lipped about good OTC spots.

With that said it is 100% doable and I have killed rams, one each in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons and have been present for an additional 4 kills. Be prepared to glass and cover some rough country.

After a little research, if you have specific questions ask away. PM if need be.

There's really only two units (groups of units) and they have pretty similar win odds and harvest rates. You can't really go wrong

It's an incredibly fun hunt that has become a yearly pilgrimage for us. But is is certainly no gimme. IMO someone who is equipped, fit, and capable of success at other western style hunts, will find success with these. It just takes a lot of glassing and a lot of hard work. Glass on a tripod is a must. Look at topos and google earth to find starting points. If you can see a lot of country and do do not turn up sheep in a day, move.
