Got drawn for the 2nd muzzleloader season (3rd if you count the youth season) in GMU 13 in New Mexico. Not looking for anything other than for me to be be able to set my expectations. Have heard that this season can be he hit or miss. Thoughts?
I hunted 12 in 2019. Very cool country and a lot of elk. We were there during the latest rifle season. Bulls were bugling a fair amount and still with the cows ( I am assuming your ML season is prior to the season i hunted). Should be a great hunt
I've heard it's been dry as well. Re-read my original post and wanted to make sure no one thought I was trying to be a debbie downer. I'm really excited for the hunt, just looking for some input.
I've hunted the cow hunts out there almost every year for the last 11 years, except for when I draw a bull tag somewhere else. Honestly couldn't tell you the last time I ran into someone in the woods out there. Get out of the truck and you should be fine. Helped on a couple bull hunts in there, they can seem slow if the elk are quiet but there's a lot of animals in that unit and antler potential is off the hook if we get the precip.
I drew late archery 013. Pretty stoked to see some big bulls compared to the rag horns here in Colorado. Never hunted pinion and juniper before. Glassing seems to be vital….
