Gator8 - keep the NLs, they are fantastic, and you'll find uses for them in the future.

I noticed that... between my ZEISS 10 (Conquest HD), and the 15's? That the picture in the 10's... is inherently perceived as sharper all around by my eyes.Ok guys maybe my eyes are messed up. I have the NL 12 (they were a tad better than my 12xEL ) and recently picked up NL 14s. I have compared them side by side on tripods for hours in all manner of conditions. While the 14s are incredible, I find that I prefer the view through the 12s as it just seems more relaxed, better in focus and my eyes can wander around in the FOV more easily. I really want to like the 14s since I primarily hunt coues deer but I find more deer by catching movement in the periphery so I feel like I want to keep the 12s and sell the 14s. Am I an idiot?
You still using the 14’s as your stand alone bino? I’m considering this….I switched to 14x from 12x this year and theyre my fav bino to date. They are smaller and more ergonomic than you would expect, i dont feel any different carrying them or glassing with them off-hand than i did with the 42mm series. They comfortably fit in a medium marsupial.
Personally i like them for close range and long range alike…brings in the details wildlife watching like none other. Now my spotters are for digiscope filming, cause visually these do almost everything else.
Yes they work for me..i havent even outfitted them for tripod mounting yet, though im sure that will be worthwhile for extended glassing… Ill have a better feel after the September-November seasons what i gravitate towards and feel is worth carrying..last year i found myself going to my NL 12s over my ATC for most glassing, though thats an awesome scope for ultralight digiscoping. Hunting big semi-mixed open country again for 3 seasons this year, and at this point im feeling the 14x will do almost everything i need with the BTX 85 staying at the truck for 2 miles+ glassing. You still using the 14’s as your stand alone bino? I spent some time this evening using a buddy’s pair of 14s NLs at thr shooting range. I’m with HJ on this, ELs or even SLCs seem better for my eyes, more relaxed view. I personally didn’t like the loose feeling focus wheel either, for now I’ll continue to use my ELs.Ok guys maybe my eyes are messed up.
