Is H&M the only company out there doing a true nitride finish on gun parts. I’ve read there are other companies doing what’s called a black finish but H&M finish is proprietary to them and only true Nitride finish. I’m wanting to have my 2 barrels done for my custom rifles being built. Bore and all. I’ve heard by doing so you can greatly extend the life of your barrel

Look up Tenifer, Melonite, and QPQ. All are nitride case hardening processes, just different trade names for it. These are all used for firearms parts. Tenifer is the normal finish for Sig and Glock slides.

Any of the job shops can do a barrel. You will need to find a shop with an FFL to do an action/reciever.

Melonite is your best option. I had SAC spin up (2) 7WSM barrels for me and had him get one of them melonited, it lasted about 500 more rds than the non melonited. The key is put a few rds down the tube and super clean it…THEN get it melonited.
