Anyone have the Nitecore HC65 and if so how do you like it? Is the red light bright enough to walk a trail at night?

It will be used for hunting mostly. I'd like one that has a usable red light (for walking in to my stands), puts off enough light that I can see a good ways with it when on white light (ATV rides at night and such) and has a built in recharge circuit. I'm considering the Nitecore HC65 and the Fenix HL60R, but am open to others that fit the bill.

I had a Princeton Tec Viz, which had a red light but it wasn't bright enough for me and I ended up giving it to my SIL.

I almost ordered the Fenix HL60R but I'm not sure how useful the red light will be at only 1 lumen. The HC65 kicks it up to 11 lumens and that may be enough walking on a trail at night, I'm not sure.

Decided to give the HC65 a try. Almost ordered the Nitecore HU30 instead due to higher output of the red LED, but the HC65 appears to be of higher quality and has twice output on the white LED. Plus I found a good deal on it.

I've taken the HC65 hunting a few times and I think it's going to work ok for my purposes, not great. It is very floody and great for walking trails and such but I find myself wishing it had more throw and less flood.

@KoolBreeze any updates on your HC65? I'm looking for the same uses. Trying to figure out which Nitecore is comparable but with more throw.

I like it. It's heavy duty, very bright and easy to recharge. A few things I don't like about it is that it's a little heavy and the red light is not bright enough for getting to/from my tree stand. So I bought a smaller, lighter light with a brighter red for that purpose.

What smaller, lighter light did you go with?
