Guys,

I bought a new rifle that will be my longer range rifle. My goal is to become proficient with it out to maybe 600-700yds or so. I had inquired about rifles in a past thread and after holding both the remington 700 long range and a Weatherby accuguard, I went with the Weatherby. The caliber is 300 win mag. I'm excited about the rifle, it seemed a better fit for me. I'm not ready for a totally dedicated long range rifle yet and this rifle I think will give me a chance to see what I can do and if I can put it the time/effort to shoot that distance. My other rifles are a remington 338-06 and a tikka superlite in 30-06.

Anyhow, The purpose of my post is to ask about a scope for it. I've bought DNZ game reaper rings for it. I was given a scope a few yrs back. It is a nikon monarch 5-20x44 SF scope. It's new in the box and has never been mounted. It's got interchangeable target turrets and a removable sunshade as well. My question is, is this a good scope? Is the power too much? Should I keep it around for a dedicated long range rifle and pick up a 4-16 power scope?

Here's the scope.

I would sell it! It has 1/8 MOA adjustments that will drive you crazy in the long run...

Good to know. I had not looked that closely at it. I definitely value your opinion. Why would 1/8 MOA adjustments drive me crazy? I'm in elementary school when it comes to longer range shooting:)
