Nikon Fieldscope: Is this a good deal?

I can pick up a like new Nikon Fieldscope iii ed60 with the 20-60x zoom eyepiece for $500. I have read fantastic things about this spotting scope and had an ed50 for a while and found it optically excellent. I haven't seen too many of these come up for sale, especially with the 20-60x zoom eyepiece. So, help me understand, is this a good deal?

If you buy that eyepiece alone it is $220-250 depending on the deal. That’s about what they sell for with the 20-60, less with other eyepieces. Just make sure it says ED on the left side or it’s the cheaper version.

It’s a great scope, right up there with the great ones for a fraction.

That body with a wa fixed eyepiece is a SLEEPER. the zoom eyepiece is narrow and the eye relief is less than the best. It's a great scope that gets left out of a lot of conversations here because guy have enough room on their visa to move a decimal point over and buy the uber alpha.....but it'll be about 10 minutes a day that it's a handicap compared to the next level.
