Man thanks for this info! Lots of good pros and cons. I agree if they could find ways to lower weight and bump up glass would be a winner but I suppose that’s why they have the NX8’s.
Not a fan of the NX8 for a hunting rifle. They crammed 10lbs of stuff into the 5lb sack on that one. Too much zoom range for that short scope. Makes the eyebox super fussy. If they made an NX5 or 6, they’d have a winner.

I agree, these zoom ratios are out of hand. Parallax gets tricky with them. If they made a 5-15 nxs with a throw lever, capped windage, exposed elevation, and in a bit smaller package I'd be all over that like white on rice...that would never sell to the masses though. Those 3x ratios are just so nice to get behind

Great choice in my opinion. I’ve had alot of quality scopes, my favorite is the 5.5-22X56. Mine has seen numerous rocks, been wet, seen hundreds of rugged miles, very good scope, always held zero and tracked perfectly. The glass is very clear in different light conditions, and is suitable for any practical range and even very long range, for the price I think it’s the best scope and the best value.

I did an LHT search on a long range forum, all but a cpl on the first page we’re sale adds. The nxs search had only 2.
I had an LHT for a while. Bought a Trijicon Credo HX 2.5-15 at the same time. Kept the Credo and moved the LHT on.

Also received my NX8 around the same time.

Will probably put the NXS on my Wby 30-378 to replace the VX-3i and keep the NX8 on the short action it’s on now.

If the 3.5-15 NXS came in FFP, I’d buy another.

3-12x30mm ATACR could be nice??
I have the 5.5-22×56 NXS and a 4-16×50 ATACR the nxs is on a 338 Edge, a heavy rifle. The ATACR is on my 28 Nosler hunting rifle. I really like that setup for hiking around with. I currently am looking for another scope and am having a tough decision???? I really like the 3-15 and 3-18 options out there. But NF confidence is built up and hard to get a less biased opinion of my own thoughts.

Does anyone have feedback on the NXS? I’m considering the 5-22x56 for a rugged hunting scope. I realize these are heavy but it seems to check most of the boxes for me. Other option is Maven RS5. Would appreciate any feedback on the NXS in regards to comparisons to other scopes and overall results with glass quality and tracking. Thanks!
I just bought one for my coyote rifle. My first nightforce…we’ll see how it goes. I am out of state on a golf trip, but excited to mount it up and try it out next week. I have a VX6HD 4-24 that I am going to compare the glass to.

I have 3 NXS, all compacts. 2 have Mil Dot and 1 has Mil R. The mildot is perfect for hunting. I thought the Mil R was a little too fine and hard to see at first, but it’s grown on me. I don’t find it hard to use in low light. It is on my sheep rifle.. and they are white, so I’m sure that helps.

Never fails that someone posts up shite like this. I could explain it to you but why bother
👎
I fully understand the value of counting ounces. I do it as well. There is just some areas I don't care so much. No need for the explanation either. I'm perfectly happy in my world of blissful ignorance 😊

This is great feedback thank you! It seems like the NXS is harder to find info on but this has been a very helpful discussion as it a seems like a very solid choice for the hunter who also wants to shoot long range.

How is the Credo glass compared to LHT and NXS?

How is the Credo glass compared to LHT and NXS?
IMO, Credo glass was better than LHT and hard to discern a difference between NX8 (i.e. I didn't use an optical resolution chart; just use during Texas deer blind hunting through civil twilight morning and evening).

Which reticle do you have? I am liking the MOAR standard option and think this will be nice for long range shooting or hunting.
I have the MOAR-T. Mine is a SFP, so I like that the target reticle is still a reasonable size when I zoom in on tiny targets. It is illuminated so the fine lines are easy to see in dim lighting.
