I have used a G1 MMR frame with the 24" aluminum stays but I must say that the slightly more flexible MR NICE frame with a load-lifter extender and lumbar pad feels much more comfortable on my back. I just never could get the MMR to my liking.

As I finish up my MR vs OV frame extender comparison are there any specific questions people have or anything in particular they want to know/see? I'm going to cover/compare are weights, ease of installation/adjustability, comfort, load bearing feel, cost, and thoughts on durability.

Sounds like you have it covered Ron. Hopefully it will include plenty of pictures. I have the Longbow and Metcalf so I'm looking forward to reading your review.

I too am looking forward to the head-to-head Ron, thanks for taking the time to put them through the paces and do the write-up!

Good review Ron, looks like the MR lift kit would be the one to use. Lighter and easier to install.

I am really liking the MR lift kit on my Longbow/NICE combo. Much more comfortable!

Thanks for the write-up Ron, it is very helpful in understanding the differences in the two pieces.

I thought your point on the freedom of movement restriction of the head on the MR design was a helpful observation.

Along though lines, did you notice any issues snagging either extension in brush or timber? Would the ability to drop the OV LLP down an inch or two have an effect on this consideration?

Thanks all!

I specifically paid attention to whether I'd get hung up in brush while using the extenders at (max) height and I didn't really ever get hung up, even going through thick mesquite groves at the edge of washes while coues deer hunting. (Some of that stuff you have to crawl through.) There were a few times I'd have some small branches caught between my shoulders and pack bag, but I've had this happen before using the frame extension(s) too. It seemed like the extended frame moved with your body and if your head fits, the frame extender will fit. I could see more of an issue if the extension was closer to the outside of your shoulders, but with it being just outside the neck/head area it wasn't a big deal. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the reply Ron!

As I think about it, with a bag such as the LB or the Metcalf that extends above the frame, the frame extender would not just be sticking up there by itself, so whatever the bag snags the extender will as well. If one were running a shorter bag (such as a CC) maybe it would be more noticeable.
