The entire Montreal team needs to switch over to soccer. Ive never seen such a tampon ladened group of men.

They are actually in a pretty damn good position CAP wise. 97 had a hell of year for his 9 million. Even when his 17M AAV start next year they have FABER and BOLDY locked down long term on very cheap (considering what they'd bring on the market today) contracts. Between those 3 their AAV is only 32.5 which any team in the league would be doing backflips if they could have those 3 locked down long term for that total. They are also still on hook for 1.666M for parise & suter buyouts for another 3 years which is crazy. Agreed they need to resign big Mac and most people just don't realize how crucial Eck is to that team, he's easilly one of the best 2 way centers in the league.Would be great to keep him around for sure. Would be a lot easier if we weren't on the hook for $17m to #97 for so long. Kirill is a great player but there are quite a few forwards in the league getting paid a lot less that I'd take over him. Hopefully a rising salary cap lessens the sting.
Would sure like to find a way to keep big Mac on the roster too. He's been a good get but I think unrestricted free agent after the season.

I never got the hype on Parise....Suter was just a solid Dman but paying that much for a at best 2nd line guy in Parise was insane. They are actually in a pretty damn good position CAP wise. 97 had a hell of year for his 9 million. I was too,but even if they get past Canadiens carolina is gonna be an absolute bear for them. Buffalo Anaheim would be such a fun (but unlikely) series.I'm pulling for the Sabres as "my" team missed the playoffs. No Canadian team has any business winning the cup.
I have to agree. Carolina looks absolutely unstoppable.I was too,but even if they get past Canadiens carolina is gonna be an absolute bear for them. Buffalo Anaheim would be such a fun (but unlikely) series.
There is always a "top scorer" even on bad teams....I mean he lead the Wild to all those playoff wins...wait.... The guy could never take over a game and besides on the ice he was an absolute cancer to the team with his buddy Suter.I think you're selling him a little short he led the team in goals 3 of his first 4 years and 4 years overall. He was 2nd in points a couple other years. Hell, the year before they signed Parise Dany Heatley led the team in scoring with... 53 points! Brodziak and Koivu were second with a whopping 44 points. Parise wasn't a pure scorer, i think fans just appreciated his motor and above avg contributions. Team USA alternate captain in 2010 olys and peak season was 3rd in goals and 5th in points in the league.
My buddy pointed at the sole "ring of honor" banner hanging at the X on Monday - Koivu. Not a high bar. A long career as a middle 6 type center and captain of wild card 1st round exit playoff teams.

I actual kind of followed them back then and had absolutely no excitement when those two signed.
