NF scope decision for hunting, NX8 4-32 / ATACR 4-16 / FFP / SFP

I have 4 nx8 4-32's 1sfp and the other 3 ffp. I have 1 2.5-20 ffp and my pard shoots an atacr and a mk6hd.

In our sample size the atacr is loved the least.

I am probably looking to the zeiss next. The s3 amd s5 seem to run away from nightforce.

Nx8 imo, the 4-16 atacr has the same small fov as the 4-15x50; the nx8 has glass as good imo, a better power range, a cooler view unless you like the warmer view of the atacr’s, also great btw, nx8 30mm tube is for ma an advantage as well, the single and only advantage to an atacr is the eyebox is more forgiving and glass is probably a bit more consistent from scope to scope. I’ve had nx8’s that have incredible glass and some that were less that expected. Never had a bad atacr.

My fav atacr is the one most guys bag on, the 5-25, sold my 4-16s and my 7-35’s. Actually the 7-35 were more like the nx8’s, picker eyebox, smaller apparent fov at same power, and cooler image.

I’ve had the ATACR 4x16. I did not like the illumination button and it was too big for the rifle. The size and weight threw the balance off. I’ve shot the NXS2.5x10 and prefer it for a lightweight build.

But why? I"m looking forward to a podcast explaining why you use a 2FP scope that requires you to dial to max maginifcation to dial... - perhaps for the weight savings?
Is the 2.5-10x NXS mil-r SFP reticle set at 10x for accurate sub tensions? I was looking at pictures, and it seemed like it was 5x.

I'm curious too how shooters are using the scope for wind holds when it's not zoomed in on the correct power or are they just using it as a fixed scope?

I also like the 2nd for for hunting, my ffp’s are so small on the lowest power they’re almost unusable, to add at max power the ret is to thick and covers to much target imo.

Reticle covers a whole deer or elk?

What reticle are you speaking of? I have a Leupold MK5 5-25 with the TMR reticle and it certainly does not cover an animal to the point of being unusable and it’s a THICK reticle.

On my moar ffp’s if I’m really aiming small at range it’s to big on max power, at the same time it’s to small at the lowest power, that’s on the 2.5x20 and 4x32, I haven’t used either powers hunting though so it doesn’t matter, I’d probably rather a bit larger on the low setting over the upper though, I also wish NF had an illuminated dot like leupold and not the entire ret be illuminated.

I noticed last night that they have center dot only illumination on the f1 SHV mil reticle but the 4-14x50 weighs as much as the 4-16x42 ATACR!

I have my ATACR set on green and at the lowest setting and its nice for shooting at dusk.

I have 2 4-32's and 1 2.5-20. All FFP and with the MOAR reticle. To me the 4-32 is the better scope. The parallax on the 2.5-20 is quite finicky to me. I, like so many others wish Nightforce would fix their reticles. I like the MOAR reticle but really wish it had a floating dot instead of the crosshair.

Interested in the MOA XT for hunting, if any of y'all have experience using it, what are your thoughts? I'm not a fan of tree's in the reticle but if I have to use that to get a floating dot I think I could get used to it. This scope will be on a rifle that get changed from 6.5 PRC for hunting to a 25 Creedmoor for NRL Hunter. I have shot multiple matches with the 4-32 and I don't think it has ever hindered me.
