When you think about it, Everything is political...and hunting is something that can be seriously affected if we that love to hunt don't pay attention and do our part to support it.

Yeah, politics sucks...but being uniformed or not contributing is worse and that makes you part of the problem vs being part of the solution.

Of all of the problems in California and he chooses to waste his efforts on this? The man is a complete moron and the people living there aren't much better for keeping this idiot in office. They are getting what they deserve. We need a moratorium on allowing those people to move to any other state. You helped make that mess, now stay there and clean it up or suffer even more. Same goes for New York and New Jersey. We are getting flooded with them here in Pa. and can do quite well without them. Don't bring your high taxes and crime here.

I have had similar thoughts. When states like CA ban mountain lion hunting, I think my state should charge them twenty times the out of state tag price based on the fact there is no opportunity to hunt there.

Finally an educated response w/o bias……

I get the ban. The state has asked the manufacturers of disposable cylinders to work out a system that cuts down on the recycling hassle/cost of draining partially full cylinders and the industry did nothing for a number of years. They literally wanted the ban, because they didn’t even try to improve the recyclability.

At least three companies make refillable cylinders, and it doesn’t take a math genius to compare the recycling costs to the cost of simply exchanging refillable cylinders. It’s not even a feel good environmental issue, but simple economics.

Jesus Christ. You know most if not all bills passed/proposed through state/federal legislature are accessible by the public. read it.

The bill was vetoed a few years ago because "I acknowledge there are several challenges and costs faced by local governments and solid waste management authorities responsible for the disposal of single-use propane cylinders. However, an outright ban without a plan for collection and refill infrastructure could inhibit the success of building a circular system in California."

This is decent policy, not good, not great, decent. As OP said it removes the "choice" but but banning the use of lead pain also removes the choice to use lead paint and that is good for all of us because we cant afford to have more people running around with room temp IQs. This policy is something intended to promote the general welfare.... something in the preamble of you know .... the constitution.


Unless forced otherwise companies will always do what reaps them the most profit no matter the impact on the environment, peoples lives, etc. Whether its the market or government something has to force industry to change their habits. In this case the government stepped in. Though as a good capitalist I would love for all changes to come out of the kindness of industry hearts, I recognize that there are times where .gov has to step in.

I think its everyones responsibility to hold these politicians feet to the fire.

The case in point with the proposal on camping propane cylinders or lead bullets or offshore windmills or electric lawnmowers....these idiots don't consider the unintended consequences of these actions. Plus they focus on the small stuff when big stuff like a comprehensive logging, forest management and wildfire program would be about a million times more beneficial to the environment by minimizing the huge wildfires we have every single year. Seems to me logging would be a net positive to pay for a program like that and it's a renewable resource- a win win.

But of course the liberal Dems that have been ruling Ca for decades are in the special interests back pocket. Ca bans plastic straws...but then they include plastic straws in the Hard drug kits they give away to Junkies. Thats some big time hypocricy there.
