Of all of the problems in California and he chooses to waste his efforts on this? The man is a complete moron and the people living there aren't much better for keeping this idiot in office. They are getting what they deserve. We need a moratorium on allowing those people to move to any other state. You helped make that mess, now stay there and clean it up or suffer even more. Same goes for New York and New Jersey. We are getting flooded with them here in Pa. and can do quite well without them. Don't bring your high taxes and crime here.

Thats really weird.. They are made of 100% recycle-able materials

Also they're only single use if you choose not to re-fill them
Not that it stops anybody, but they are illegal to transport them once you refill them (the disposable one's). This is a direct result of slob campers that do not properly dispose them, or simply leave them around the campground. Hell, I remember going to a campsite after summer ended. The entire campground was covered with 1 to 3 feet of trash (I'm talking about 30+ campsites). I camped further in, in a spot with little to no trash. But on my way out I stoped and pulled out trash bags and began filling them (an entire box). I filled my bed to the top of the shell with full trash bags. In town I stoped behind a business center puting 2 bags in a bin so I didn't fill and inconvenience any business. A Sheriff deputy saw me and pulled up, he intended to cite me until he looked in the back of my truck, quickly said have a nice day and was gone.

The issue is a people problem. Local to me the campgrounds, day use areas... are littered with trash, dirty diapers, and yes, empty propane cylinders. I certianly wish they'd cite the offenders. But it's easier for government to be big and impose regulations.

I don't like it one bit, unfortunately, it isn't going to change.

Can't we ban people instead??

I get the ban. The state has asked the manufacturers of disposable cylinders to work out a system that cuts down on the recycling hassle/cost of draining partially full cylinders and the industry did nothing for a number of years. They literally wanted the ban, because they didn’t even try to improve the recyclability.

At least three companies make refillable cylinders, and it doesn’t take a math genius to compare the recycling costs to the cost of simply exchanging refillable cylinders. It’s not even a feel good environmental issue, but simple economics.

He's out next election but Cali is overwhelming blue no matter who. They will probably get someone more radical to continue these nonsense, nonimportant, self righteous bs laws.

Just wait...this clown is in the inner circle of Dark money influence and will be running for president in the next election trying to roll out progressive politics to the nation.

if you guys only knew the whole of it.

Newsom has appointed anti hunters to the F&G dept- in fact they forced a member that shot a mountain lion out of state to resign- I think that was on his watch. On his watch they made lead bullets illegal in many areas using junk science to do it.

He is always blaming "Guns" as the problem...nevermind its HIS policy of releasing dangerous criminals, no bail policy, and his position 47 that says no prosecution for crimes under $950...which lead to all kinds of shoplifting and car break ins. Thousands of businesses have left CA including big ones like Honeywell, Schwab, Chevron, etc. Many people have left too. How many taxpayers will it take to make up for an Elon Musk who paid tens of millions in tax when he sold stock along with providing thousands of jobs.

I could go on and on....but this Newsom is a Cancer. Search the video of Kamala's speech talking up their liberal policy as DA in SF about 15 years ago where she is standing with Newsom [Mayor] and Gascon [police chief] the trio that started SF on the downhill slide.

A lot. Go to any campground during peak season and guaranteed the majority of people have these. I'd say 80/20.
1- Peak season? Gross.

2- Lots of non residents camp in California, I have.

3- I see a whole lot more people in the cities of California than I've seen campsites.

I don't understand what point you are trying to make? I don't support anything Newsom does. I am just saying I lived in that state the majority of my life and distinctly remember seeing those almost every time I recreated. The beaches, the mountains, jobsites, the list goes on.

I think most politicians in both major parties are full of shit, but controlling the flow of garbage into our favorite environments (where the critters are) is going to be necessary as long as “I don’t give a shit” keeps heading into the wilds. If another party was in charge I’d hope they’d be trying to solve those problems too.
I’m glad I’m alive now, and that I don’t have kids to worry about losing the chance of experiencing primitive camping without someone else’s shit found left behind.
However, I do care about your kids getting that opportunity.
