My buddy and I are looking to hunt moose in Newfoundland in 2027.
We will probably be hunting with rifles. We are looking for a trophy hunt.
Has anyone had any experiences with outfitters there? Thanks

I did six hunts on the rock all successful but if your really looking for trophy hunting or if the racks matter that much to you Alaska Yukon moose are bigger body and racks. I cant really recommend anywhere in Newfoundland for trophy size.

Grandlake adventure, Greg Samms. I am doing my second hunt with him this October, do the fly in trophy hunt.

We had an awesome experience with Next Ridge Outfitters. It was fly in to a remote camp. The camp was a perfect blend of off the grid but still comfortable for a week of hunting. The hunting was great and all four of us got really nice moose. They are very professionally run and the guides were great people as well. Wherever you decide, it seems like the fly in hunts are the way to go for mature moose.

Yea they seem to average really good and close to 50 at his fly in trophy camps

I have hunted twice with Efford's. Once in a regular camp, once in a trophy camp. In the regular camp killed one with a 40"ish spread in the trophy camp killed one with a 49" spread.

I hunted with Ironbound outfitters I believe my hunt started on the 18 of September I had a very positive experience all my communication was great with Mark the owner. My co hunter shot a 46 in bull and I shot a 30 in bull we did not see very many bull moose weather seemed on warm side my guide was extremely knowledgeable I would go back tomorrow if possible and hope to maybe in 28 the only thing I would change would be to go first of October in hope that bulls would be more vocal and on there feet more. this was a remote helicopter fly in hunt

We went to the SCI Convention yesterday. We talked to a few outfitters including Effords. We really liked Arluk Outfitters so we booked a late September hunt for the fall of 2027.

Be patient and do your research well. Some trophy moose available there from outfits. However a number of them are just avg or small bull or cow meat hunts.

Been to newfoundlsnd once they have moose no question!! If you're in it for meat it's almost a gsurentee. I switched bear hunting in maine to new brunswick and holy cow there are some giant moose there. i'm booked for '30 in new brunswick outfitters tgere book years out as they only get 1 tag. Every bear hunt i have seen moose and bulls in velvet in june are bigger then any of the bulls i saw in newfoundland. The bear outfitter i use have shot some monster bulls. The outfitter also helps hunters who want to apply for the nonresident draw it's lower odds but someone's going to be lucky to draw . consider new brunswick the hunt might cost more but the pros are your only moose hunter in camp ususlly max 2 and you don't have to go on the ferry it can be a pain in sept/oct weather
pm me if u want to use the outfitter i use

I hunted with Ironbound. Great experience, many moose on offer and the guide was a local Newfy that was very patient as I held out for the best bull we could find.
Seen some big bears but didn't want to waste time on a bear while looking for a bull.
Weather can be challenging but camps are comfortable.

I'm glad someone had a good hunt with them. Mine started unraveling before leaving Corner Brook for camp, and the nightmare got worse as it went. Departure location changed 4 times, three times the morning of. Wasn't met by anyone working with IB. Was literally thrown at with the license form. Owner wouldn't respond to the guide, nor the cook. No bulls after walking many miles for 4 days, was told it was ok to shoot a cow, and when I did on the fourth day, the guide immedietly told the other hunter they'd go to a spike camp. The owner didn't tell the chopper pilot where my moose was located. The owner said i'd be back to my truck by noon thursday, and I should book my ferry for that night, but was never picked up from camp until after 5pm, and wasn't returned to where my truck was. Had to drive like an idiot to go get my meat from their "prefered processor" who stole about a quarter of not only mine, but the other hunter's meat. By the time I got to the ferry, they'd cancelled my ticket, and I luckily still got on board. Got to the CA/US border and discovered they hadn't given me export papers. When I called him, he said it was my fault for leaving so soon. When I confrunted him about all of this, he went silent on me.

thst is horrible!! Hunts are supposed to be fun your spending your hard earned money. I've been there George maine was a nightmare talk of all these monster bears. I show up to 8 other hunters and we all see small bears. New Brunswick was better my first two outfitters they were the same as msine jam all the people you can in you feel like ur not looked after. My last one tho it was the ticket young couple and they work their asses off and they do it right it's you and your group you bring they want it to be like family and it's 100% feels that way. Very professional and the hardest working outfitters ive ever been with.

It's a shame, but most outfitters just look at selling as many hunts as possible, and don't really care about how hard it is on some of us. I never thought I could afford a moose hunt, and at 59 finally scratched enough to do it one time. Because I feel like it was a wasted hunt, I'm booking another, that I really truly can not afford, with another outfitter, and praying that it goes better.

If you want your moneys worth snd a chance at a nice bull call Governors Table Camp in New brunswick they only usually get one tag but i think right now you can apply for the nonresident draw. They encourage their hunters to do it and they give ppl who draw own tag a bit of a deal. The lady who owns it Jenn is the best guide i've ever had she will do anything she can to make sure you have an opportunity. i've bear hunter tgere it's the best so much attention to msking sure guests have a great time. Their prices are comparable to New found land for moose. Check them out i can't say enough good things bout them GovernorsTableCamp.ca
