We have a 7 day period along with the 10 posts to post in the classifieds. The 7 days was to allow the user to hit 10 being naturally involved with threads, without posting, "okay", "thats cool" or "good idea" 10 times in 5 minutes. If nothing else it gives other members a sample size of posts before dealing with a buyer/seller.

On the Chinese side, both ryan and I have been tweaking firewall/site rules to try and catch it before they post.

Just curious if there are any exceptions to the 10 post rule? I love this site and have used it to purchase pants, binoculars and a spotting scope all before the 10 post requirement was established. I am trying to sell some binoculars of my own and I don't have any privileges. Love the site and the information I glean but am still new to hunting so don't have many comments that I feel are worth making or someone else hasn't offered. Thanks for considering.

You are only two away now. Make another wise crack back to me and go welcome a new guy in the FNG section. Done.

So for posting in classifieds the 10 post requirement, is that post replies to a thread or 10 threads that the person has to start? Just curious because I have over 10 posts and it still says I do not have privileges.

I was wondering the same thing! I don't mind the rules for newbies but I'm glad they're not any stricter. I genuinely want to participate in discussions and be able to buy and sell on the classifieds, and am looking forward to having the privileges. Not all newbies are here to screw up Rokslide.

Especially people that have already spent hundreds of dollars taking a chance on on this site. I'm very glad I took the chance but think some credit should be given to those that have purchased from existing members. Or maybe or fellow brothers on here that have sold us newbies stuff can sponsor us. Oh wait looks like I have 10 posts now!! Nevermind good luck guys. ;)

It is 10 posts not 10 new threads. You're almost there!

To answer your question, I would not have given you an exception. The only ones I gave were to users with items already listed when the rule went into effect but was under the threshold, limiting their ability to bump and PM.

I just made an account here the other day, but I’ve had my AT account for at least a few years. Seems like AT is getting an influx of new users right now as well. Although it’s not as apparent because it seems like AT has more users? Not sure if that’s true or not.

I’m good with the rules here. I don’t have anything to sell right now or any money to spend hahaha. If anything I think they should be higher/longer, certainly no less.

Rokslide is so broad, it's easy to make useful posts. I'm new to AT and archery so I had trouble getting to ten useful posts even after lurking for months. I'm not a lurker but as a knew Archer (can I call myself that?) I don't have answers and not going to ask the beginner questions that are already asked every week.

Only cared about 10 to view used prices.

I don't necessarily like all the rules - I've been a member for years, rarely post, but have had ~5 successful purchases and I can't even reply to a classified ad to ask a question.

I think the 7 day waiting period is good, and the 10 post entry is fine, but at some point (90 days? 6 months? >10 replies to private messages?) you should have full access.

It's also to help promote some engagement, even saying welcome to someone. You are under 1 post a year if you doubled that to 2 posts a year you would be at 12 posts and have access.

I get it too, but 10 posts seems a bit arbitrary and may force unnecessary posts - similar to this one - just seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to have multiple paths to privileges, that blocks spammers, etc but allows inclusion of all legitimate members.

Just make the posts. I wish it were more than 10. This forum is supposed to be a community in theory. Hard to be a community when folks are coming on and asking for all the communities info the same day they join or in your case 6 years 9 posts. I don’t have anything against newbies or folks who want to just access the classifieds , but like most things in life, you get back what you put in. I still think a 30 day freeze on all posts for newbies would help a lot of this. Most questions from newbies have already been covered 20 times and they just haven’t taken the time to read some threads and kick out a few searches.
