I am in the process of putting together gear for backpacking vs truck camping.

Yesterday, my lightweight synthetic down quilt arrived. To my surprise, it game in a rather large laundry bag with a much smaller stuff bag.

Two dumb questions:
1) Do I need to store the quilt in the big bag and limit the use of the small bag to actual use?

2) If I can store in the small bag, is it OK to store it in my backpack? My backpack is stored in my air conditioned office so humidity and temperature are not a problem.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give to this idiot.

You need to store it in the large storage bag they provided. If you don’t and store it in the small stuff sack the loft will get compacted to the point where it’ll never recover to full loft again. That’s why they gave you the two bags.

I had a feeling that was the answer. Thank you.
