That's a pretty general question. Not to be a dbag but have u done any research? Do a Google search. The research is as fun as the hunt for me.
270 days of NZ hunting for me, I'll never buy a tag again in the states.
And a hint, big lone chamois bucks are 10 times harder to hunt then tahr. Tahr are easy in my mind.
I've never had an issue getting rifles through, I just tell the cops I'm hunting and don't have w fixed address and it's never been an issue.I'd like to follow that up with one more thought.
I Your biggest hurdle is logistics of getting to NZ with a rifle. The trickiest part is getting an import permit if you don't have a kiwi gun sponsor. Avoid a layover In oz. don't fly Fiji airways (no ammo allowed)
As for specifics, there are a lot of kiwi hunters that wouldn't be stoked to see Americans pouring into known Spots. Shoot a few nannies before harvesting a bull. Don't chopper in. I want to full on kill mother fukker Americans who are too lazy to hike a day in and would rather buzz me with a chopper.
What else. Check out the DOC website, everything you need to know can be found there.

Im assuming you mean heli hunting and not just paying to get flown in and dropped off? Nothing wrong with the latter in my view.

I'm in Vic, what part of the country are you from?Maybe I'm jaded, but don't get me started on 18 point paddock stags, and posting it on Instagram like its a damn trophy. and all that crap. I was tempted to fork over some loot to pop a free range 14 point on a cull hunt but it was roaring at me at 35 meters so common sense does elude a guy during those times.
If a kiwi guys wants to get dropped up on the tops because of time constraints that all well and good but there's no reason to fukkin have a guide and all that jazz with dinner back at the lodge. The biggest issue is the kiwi government knows it's missing out on revenue by not taxing us out of country hunters. Mark my words within 5 years their will be fees to be paid for us.
Btw where u at in oz mate? We'll be doing a surf mission in March. Be fun to meet up. No hunting for me, oz doesn't like ar15's lol
You'll be surprised at how ridiculously easy tahr hunting is.

TV hunting shows and "famous" hunters try to make it seem hard to give them the appearance of being bad arse ultimate hunters.
I know what you mean re. Bow hunting them, hardest part is utilising the make-up of the mountains to get inside bow range.your confused with sheep hunting. lol
If it were a 10" cham he woulda taken a dirt nap before he took a step from where we'd first seen him! There seems to be some great advice here so far.......
"You'll be surprised at how ridiculously easy tahr hunting is. TV hunting shows and "famous" hunters try to make it seem hard to give them the appearance of being bad arse ultimate hunters, just ain't so.
Tahr are dumb as anything, quite often will stand there looking at you, I've actually had a 10" spot us at 30m and walk into 7m before deciding to leave. country is a steep in places but go at your pace and you'll be laughing. " (you talking about Chamois or Tahr? cos a 10" Tahr aint al that big.......)
