New World Record Velvet Mule Deer Announced by Pope & Young!

It was definitely a unique antler configuration with 26 eligible points on the right side and 18 on the left. Numerous other protrusions that were just under the 1” minimum required. Very rare type of deer for sure.

Some crazy genetics for sure...

The South West corner of Colorado obviously holds the wr typical = the Burris buck. Now it produced this wr velvet non typical! With how hard we chase these bucks good to see there are places they can still get away to grow. Sure are some studs coming out of down there!!

Congratulations to the hunter.

I am curious if he was a “cactus buck”. Because he was killed in early September, we might never know if he would have shed his velvet. Never seen a hard horned buck that looks anything like that one.

According to the hunter, the buck had a normal set of testicles and appeared normal (other than antler configuration). There really is no scientific test determine either way. Really doesn’t matter though, as The Pope and Young Club accepts stags (cactus bucks) anyways.
