We have the biggest ice fishing tournament in the country here where you don’t have holes set up for you. So with 525 teams fishing up and down lake Oahe some one always seems to find a way to dump a side by side or a pick up in every year. Most times it driving where they shouldn’t . It’s interesting watching them get it out of 50 feet of water. This year will be interesting as the lake has not even froze yet and 2nd weekend of January is the tournament. Insurance covers it once I know a guy who has a couple pick ups go swimming.

But all the cabs seem to be aftermarket. I don't understand why very few (if any) vehicle manufacturers don't offer a full hard cab. Obviously, people buying one of these are seeking some comfort mixed with capability. Why not off a full hard cab that doesn't look like it was an afterthought? Who wants to put all that money into one of these an be hunting in total slop and still cold to the bone?

Seems like they are leaving money on the table to me.

Can Am Defender. Full cab, power windows, heat, AC, cup holders...

I generally found a heater unnecessary. The sun actually heats a cab up a good bit, now if your driving around in zero degrees and use a heater to get it to 30 might not be bad, but my thought is you should be dressed to handle the weather you are out in, incase of breakdown or something like that. A hope nobody experiences it case would be an accident, get knocked out for a period and clothes would be a huge help. My thoughts on it anyways.

Oh I agree, always be properly dressed but that goes without saying even when you are in a vehicle.

A heater is just an added feature for comfort and to help defrost the windshield.

When people have put the bigger tires on that rub I have taken a heat gun and GENTLY heated the spot were it is rubbing and with a glove on reshaped the area by pushing in with your gloved hand to make room for the tire. I have done 3 or 4 RZR's this way. But the secret is not to over heat the foot box or you will have a mess where it starts to melt. You just want to make it pliable.

I had to install Superatv a-arms front and rear, they extend the wheelbase by 3”, move the front tires forward 1.5” and rear back 1.5”, full lock it will rub a little but overall it’s good.

Hmmmm......I've heard that before, but I guess I'd have to put one to the test against my Toyota to believe it. I've never found any limitations with my Toyota yet, and even flew it off the road this summer doing 40mph. Had about a 5 foot drop off and then into a rock field that stopped us immediately. My 14 year old daughter will never be the same.....I think she's still shaking. But as soon as I cleared the rocks from the frame, I drove it out of there and back onto the road. In my defense there was a blind 90 degree right turn at the top of a hill......no time to even slow down. Against my defense.......ya, I was going way too fast for that road, but that's certainly not uncommon for me. Other than an alignment, it came out unscathed. Better than I can say for my daughter.

If they really are faster and go places a pickup won't, then I'm sure I'd be pushing it to and past its limits as well.......which would most likely be even more dangerous for me. Hmmm.....I might have to check one out. But I prefer a closed cab for warmth and need to keep my coffee hot. I'm pretty confident that anywhere those would be legal in CO, I could easily get my Toyota into as well.

You would think so but it's just not the case. A SxS is night and day better on rough terrain compared to even a Toyota or Ranger or Colorado. Driving down a road at 20 mph in a really well equipped Toyota feels about the same as doing 40 in a decent SxS.

Give it a go before investing in a heater. My uncles RZR with doors would heat up to a comfortable temp from people being in it and the heat from the motor but we never had it out in negative degree temps.

Polaris makes the full cab that is super nice, no dust, heat, air conditioning. The belt drive is a total non-issue for me. No problem getting a 6X6 bull quartered out into a Ranger. Should have taken a picture, but I didn't think of it!

I hope you get a lot of fun and use out of it, it sure looks nice!

Heater is a definite yes for us. Totally transforms using it as a family vehicle. Plus I'm kinda a wuss.
