Decided to retire the waterfowl 1187 and spring for a purpose-built turkey gun this year.

Mossberg 835 - 24” 12ga.
Magpul SGA stock (dipped) with riser.
holosun 507c with 32 MOA reticle.
Indian creek .675 choke.

The modified pistol grip is a huge improvement over the factory stock. Perfect for a seated shooting position but leaves your thumb comfortably positioned near the safety. The 32 MOA reticle makes roughly a 10” circle at 30 yards.

ended up swapping the pic rail for a Scalarworks sync mount to lower the optic a bit.

That’s a very handy lookin turkey gun. I absolutely love the SGA from magpul and have thought about dipping one myself. First time I’ve seen it done. 👍🏻

Patterned 6 different loads at 25 yards today. (1) Winchester XX 3” #5 is what I’ll be shooting. Might keep some (2) Winchester longboard XR 3.5” #6 in the vest in case I set up for a longer poke.

That's a sweet build, I didn't realize Magpul made those stocks.

Good looking set up, hang on! Had an 835 years ago, it killed on both ends! I tote a 5.5lb 20ga now!

Are you using a single-shot? Haven't seen too many pumps/autoloaders that light but have been looking myself.

Mossberg SA-20 Turkey, 22 inch barrel, not usually a fan of cheaper shotguns but got a crazy deal on this one a few years ago and had to try it. Been great. TSS handloads and the stock choke or an Indian Creek .555

I'm with dtrkyman, going into season 6 packing a short barrel 20ga and wouldn't ever go back to a 12. With TSS, the little guns are more than capable and so much more enjoyable to shoot and carry!

Great choice. I used a sp-10 for years and with the new tss ammo I went back to a 835. It will out shoot the 10
