I didn't even know the lock N load Progressive press had a predecessor. How did Hornady manage to make such a piece of sh!t when they had a first generation? Seriously! How!? The LNL AP Progressive press is the most finicky, half-as$ery, bit of tomf@ckery I have ever had the displeasure of owning. I have had to make so many modifications and 3D printed parts, just to make that pile of trash work half-decent. What an unpolished turd. I wish I would have just spent the money and went Dillon the first time. Unfortunately I am saddled with it.
I bought it to load 3 different cartridges, and it can only seem to load 1 of them from the factory. I had to modify a .308 bullet feeder to load 300 BLK, I've had to make all kinds of little 3D printed parts to get it to cycle 9mm cases and bullets properly, including buying a Mr. Bullet Bullet feeding die and modifying it to make it work with the bullet collator. The Damn thing is a 1/4 case off center 67% of the time, smashing case mouths with the case activated powder dropper.
Then the case activated powder dropper had the pivot fail long before breaking off...that lead to loading a bunch of 9mm without a powder charge. That was fun to find out the hard way. If I wasn't fully present, or had I been burning the barrel down with drills, I would have had a real issue. Unfortunately, there aren't enough stations to run a powder cop. I may have to mess around with hornady's seating/crimping die more so I can get one in there.
Didn't mean to Hijack... I hope their original is better than the trash they release now days. I have quit buying anything Hornady.... I won't even adopt a cartridge if the only ammo or dies are from them. They get none of my money anymore with all of the trash products they release.
