If you don’t mind, I was taught that basically those would both be +/- 6 mph loads if speed was in the 2850 range. I believe I noticed a prior similar post on a higher mph then the g1 bc.

Could you explain for me?

Plug into an app set wind angle to 90 degrees and increase wind speed until you see a shift of 0.1 per 100 yards = your wind # for that load.

This is the 107 (guessed based on a 1.370 bullet length) at my dA, w a 8mph 90 degree wind

If I remember correctly, the "first digit of g1 BC = wind bracket" heuristic is valid at lower density altitudes than people might be hunting/shooting in some states. I'm often hunting at 8k and above, so something that would be a 6mph gun hunting pronghorn in Eastern CO is a 9mph gun hunting elk.

At similar velocity they are going to be darn near the same.

.292 to .305 BC is barely any change. No way you’re going from an 8-10mph rifle without some serious velocity involved.

Gun number isn’t a one size fits all solution either, yea you can be close just guessing off the g1, but it’s not hard to put in a solver and figure it out at your velocity and DA.

Rerunning this am it looks like 8mph and 9mph. So negligible

I suspect the #397139 (109/110gr) seating stem might be a good fit for these.

My Hornady die does leave marks on the 107’s. Maybe this would work to eliminate.

For future reference.....if a guy was starting with a new caliber with new reloading dies for these and wanted to not deal with seating stem drama, which dies would allow a one-stop solution?

I've never used the basic Forster 2-die set but would their basic seating die (not the micrometer version, just the plain one) come with a suitable stem?

In my experience with Redding dies, their standard FL seating die, with the micrometer stem to replace the standard one, solved the issue of big stem rings on some 88 ELDMs in a 22-250.

They make a VLD specific option for the replacement micrometer stems, that’s the one that slippery bullet shooters will want.

So I guess that’s not necessarily an easy button, but it’s a good option for those seeing major rings left on bullets by standard stems.

If the rest of these shoot like the 107 has for me, then the only “picky” thing about these bullets is deciding which one to pick to shoot a bear with next month…
