New TMK announced

So it’s been well documented that the 77gr TMK is almost too much for most game animals and boasts a fair amount of meat damage. So what are we hunting with the 153gr TMK? Elephants?

It doesn’t work like that. Jacket design and lead mixture will determine performance not just weight.

Wanting to work a load up for the Tikka 243 I have in the safe. Trying to decide on the 107 or 117 when they are available. Guess I'll wait and see after these guys fully put them through their paces

Assuming you have a 1:8 twist, is the 117 going to stabilize?

Yes its a 1:8 twist. Im not sure, thats one of the reasons im following along lol. Wanting to see some animal wound trails and groups to see how these all behave. In the meantime I might just go with the 108 eldm

8 twist should be fine at any sort of Western mountain DA. They've been tested in at least two 8 twist barrels so far with no issues. Berger and JBM put it right around 1.5 SG.

Any speculation on a 1/8 243 at 1k elevation being able to use the 117’s?

I’m going to have to test this myself. My local range is at about 750 feet. I do most of my hunting between 3000-4000 feet.

If it doesn’t work, there still such an embarrassment of riches with .243 bullets that I won’t sweat it. But I love the idea of potentially duplicating the performance of my .25-06 117-grain factory load in a .243 (and with a potentially more destructive bullet).
