I currently have a Spot Hogg 7DP and looking to upgrade to either their Hoggfather or Boss Hogg this offseason. I was looking to see if anyone had/has experience with one or the other, and have recommendations for one over the other.

I don't have experience with the Boss Hogg, but do have the Hogg Father. The only downside in my book is the weight, which may or may not matter to you. I really like the build and the adjustability, banged it around all summer at the range, then 11 days in the mountains in Montana, and never had an issue with it at all. I tried a custom multi pin housing and a single pin, and ended up sticking with a single pin - but that's something you can do on either sight.

I've owned all 3 of their current slider models. Mechanically the Boss and the Tommy are basically the same sight with same options, but have a different location for the dial. The Tommy Hogg will make it much easier to run any quiver, where the dial on the Boss gets in the way of many quivers without an additional offset bracket. Of those two, I'd go with the Tommy Hogg.

I currently run a Hog Father and love it. The extended site radius makes for more precise aiming, and it is bullet proof like all of their products. It is a bit heavier and longer, which catches on brush when carrying it around the mountain, but overall one of the best bow sights available.

For a purely hunting set up I'd recommend the Tommy Hogg.

I shoot quite a bit of 3d (hunting class) in the offseason, would that change your thought at all on the Hoggfather vs the tommy Hogg?

I would go with OR and tipsntails with the Tommy. MIT is configured better for hunting rigs. I love my Tommy Hogg. Also use it heavily for 3D. It has the same dial system as the others.

Tommy hogg here also. I use a 7pin housing. Love the sight for both 3d and hunting. Durable but a little on the heavy side. I use a tight spot quiver and it gives me good access to the dial.

I used to use 7 pin hogg father. Thing was heavy! To say the least I believe it was 23oz built like a tank but too heavy for my liking. I changed up to MBG pure 75 due to weight and haven't looked back

I run the Tommy Hogg as well and like it better than any other sight I've seen or used. I use it mostly for hunting, but I shoot 3D in the summer also, albeit not at a competitive level. I don't have experience with the others, but have contemplated trying the Hogg Father. Kind of second guessing that now that I see all the replies here.

Don't want to sidetrack the thread, but the only thing that bugs me about the Spott Hogg sights is the noise or rattle that you get when you shoot without the micro adjustment knob locked down. I have asked Spott Hogg about this, thinking mine has a worn out bushing or something and they just tell me that it's designed to be shot in the locked down position... Who the heck hunts with it locked down??? Nobody that I know of would make a course adjustment while hunting and then lock it down, which is noisy in itself. I don't remember it being noisy in the beginning, but probably never noticed since I put it on a new bow with all new hardware and it was vastly quieter than my last bow. It wasn't until I shot next to a buddy and noticed how much louder my bow was than his and started isolating noise sources and discovered that when I tap on the dial, it would produce a slight rattle. I've never been around anyone else with a Spott Hogg sight to compare mine to. It's a real nit-picky thing, but still overall love the sight.

To be different, of the 3, I prefer the Father over the Boss and Tommy. I thought my Boss had a 'rougher' adjustment than the Tommy and Father. Considering it is not a direct drive, and connected through gears, this would make some sense. Additionally, the Father provides the dovetail adjustment that the Tommy and Boss do not. A lot easier to get the peep alignment I want with the peep size I want. With the Tommy and Boss shooting a multi pin head, I had to use a bigger peep than I want to use.
