I'm buying a new bag before archery kicks off. I've read about revaluation quilts and I'm curious but worried about sleeping straight on my pad. I'm looking at big Agnes bags cuz I like the sleeve for my pad idea and they make a rectangular bag. I like being able to spread out a bit. A lot of reviews on BA bags say they are not rated right temp wise. I currently have a Coleman 0* ??? Model escapes me. I have never been cold in it but feel really constricted. I like down (light/smaller) but if someone can talk me into synthetic I'm all ears. I can't break the bank either. I'm thinking <$250??? Thanks. Just looking for input I guess

Kifaru has some top notch synthetic however you will have to spend a bit more. The Enlightened Equipment quilts are awesome and my first choice. MUCH more comfortable than a bag. I like the down for cold weather. I am however going to order their synthetic quilt for warm weather probably next week.

I looked into the quilts, maybe for a warm weather hunt someplace other than Alaska but I'm sticking with a bag otherwise. I found a sweet deal on Snugpak and picked up a Harrier 10. The thing compresses down small in the stuff sack and doesn't weight a whole lot compared to size of the bag, weight is at around 3.5 pounds. Acceptable range for me considering its a 20 degree bag with synthetic fill.

Snugpak USA shows msrp at 349 bucks but if you do a little google investigation you can find them new at half that price.

I use a revelation 10 degree bag and really like it for much the same reasons you mention. I got a "wide" quilt which offers some additional width for my type of sleeping- side sleeper with my knees drawn up. The thing is not constictive at all even when doing that. To me sleeping on the pad is not a problem, I where my lightweight merino shirt and long johns when I sleep. That quilt is very versitile to regulate temps with the ability to vent the foot very well. Closed up it's really, really warm. The price is right where you looking as well. Supper light weight. I'm not trying to sell you on it I'm just saying I'll never go back to a mummy bag.

Sounds like the quilt is the way to go. Do they pack down small and come with a stuff sack? I'm 6 ft tall and I'm fairly broad. Should I get the 6'6" wide or the regular 6' model?

Don't overlook a Woobie or Doobie from Kifaru. I use the Woobie above freezing and the Doobie down into the 20s.

Just ordered my new Prodigy X 30* quilt for the not so cold weather. I can not sleep out during the hot summer months. Working outside 6 days a week is enough heat for me. I will use this in spring and fall and a 0* down when it is cold.
