I am going to buy a new sleeping bag I have a Western Mounteering Badger 15 degree bag it weighs 38 oz. I have been very happy with it zero complaints. At 70 years of age I am thinking about trying a Feathered Friends Raven UL 10 degree at 33.5 oz or the Swift UL 20 at 29 oz. I will be hunting the Bearthtooths in September. I have been cutting weight as much as possible on everything Thanks for any input

Check out a quilt. As long as you have a good pad. I use a 22 degree quilt with a x-therm pad down into high teens. Super light and very warm.

I've got a Stone Glacier Chillikote 0 degree bag which is amazing.
Anything above 10 degrees or so I use a quilt that is a custom job rated to 12 degrees.
Both are at or under 2#.

I have the regular Feathered Friends raven and love it. On nights it’s too warm I just unzip and use it like a quilt.

Depends on how much room you like in your bags. Those are slimmer cuts than the Badger. Quilts have a learning curve, and if you are comfortable with a bag i wouldn't change now to save a few ounces. What pad are you using? Usually easier and cheaper to save weight switching pads than bags.

I like the EE Conundrum. You can run it as either a quilt or bag. I have the 0° long & wide size in 850FP that finishes at 38 oz. You can shave weight by ordering less fill and/or smaller size or paying extra for 950FP. I do not recommend going with less fill unless you sleep in your hunting mid layers.

Thermarest pad at 19 oz and I have lost 60 lbs down to 170 so I know the feathered Friends bag will have enough room as the badger is huge also 6 oz is huge to a 70 year old I do not think I would like a quilt

If you go with a quilt, ask around about comfort rating versus what is advertised. I have a 20 degree EE Enigma. In my experience, using a Big Agnes Rapide insulted pad, they are overly generous on their rating by about 10 degrees. I sleep warm and this was a my experience wearing a base layer and rigging the quilt to use the zen bivy sheet with down hood.

Way to go on the weight loss. Also love to hear that you are 70 and still going strong. I have a feathered freinds Lark 10 degree bag that is right at 34 ounces. I would like to sell it as the fit is too tight in the shoulders for me. I purchased an REI Magma 15 to replace it. They come in three different lengths combined with three different widths so it is possible to get a good fit for just about any size or shape. I could have purchased another FF with a wider fit but the Magma on sale was a great deal. Used it last year and have zero regrets as the wide is amazing for comfort. I did however gain 5.4 ounces on my bag which I offset with a lighter pad so a net loss of 5 ounces. The slight gain in weight is worth it for me in the greatly increased comfort . The slight drop in warmth from the 10 degree bag to the 15 degree works better for me as well as I run hot. At 58 I am also upgrading and eliminating all non essentials to decrease weight.

I'd lean towards the Raven UL 10. The Beartooths in September can be unpredictable—you might get snow or single-digit temps. Since you love the Badger (which is a wide, comfortable bag), dropping down to a 20° bag might be risky if a cold front hits, especially as we get older and tend to sleep a bit colder. Saving 4.5 oz with the Raven is still a nice upgrade without sacrificing safety.

I use feathered friends for my puffy pants and coat and sleeping bags. Tried many others but love feathered friends. The close aren't camo but there really warm and light. I would go that way. I am only 63 and cutting weight also on everything I can.
