New Savage LR hunter .338 Lapua

Nice!
That'll be a hammer
I'll be curious to see how the vx5 holds up. The lapua is pretty hard on scopes, I know a guy who killed a NF NXS on his.
Also I'd get some lower rings on there.. you really don't want your scope mounted that high above your barrel

Ditto on the scope rings, go down a size or two. My little brother has one of those rifles, and it is a shooter. Shot #5 out of the box was a 1000 yard hit.

I bought the version before yours in 2018, always wanted a Lapua. had a vortex crossfire 2 on it for that season, put the scope back on the 06 which I just sold, not sure what scope I'm gonna put on it. I did carry it up and down the mountains of Idaho in 2018 and decided never again.Screenshot_20211220-202011.png

Right on, at least you got a deer with it!
I've shot 3 bucks outta of the same tree in 2 different seasons using that rifle due to the potential of 700 yard shots in a tall grass field. Of course the furthest shot I've had to take was the buck in the picture 195 yards away, the other 2 were sub 20 yard shots.

I have a savage elite precision 338 lapua with a leupold mark5. 7-35×56 and I did tons of research on scope mounts for big calibers like this and around every corner spuhr mounts were the most recommended. And I dont regret spending the extra money.

very nice rifle, how do you like the Mark5? I thought about it but didn't think I would need the upgrade over the vx-5hd

I have both scopes. Baught the vx5hd first but I didn't prefer the sfp so upgraded to the mark 5 for ffp. But love both scopes.

If that scope hight fits you why go lower?
Not really the kind of rifle to utilize point blank zero.
