New Rifle

Tikkas are lightweight, accurate, affordable rifles.
Anyone who has handled one can tell you that they are designed to be produced very economically. For instance. Tikkas have a:
Two piece bolt
Plastic trigger guard/ magazine
"one size fits all" action
matte (non-finish) on barreled action
plastic tupperware stock
factory rings that suck

All of the above are cost cutting features. Tikkas are manufactured to keep costs down, and the end result is exactly why they are as light as they are.

As a comparison, consider a gun manufacturer would produce this (fictional) rifle: completely divergent from a Tikka, having a:

One piece machined bolt
Steel trigger guard/ magazine
Choice of caliber appropriate action short/long magnum action
blued or stainless finish on barreled action
Laminated or real wood stock
Factory steel rings

Could this (fictional) rifle be produced to be priced the same as a Tikka? Absolutely not! And it'd prolly weight two pounds more!!! So, there goes any chance at a company building a value priced 'lightweight' hunting rifle. It just can't be done, hence the popularity of the Tikkas as hunting rifles!!!

As for out of the box accuracy, for general big game hunting, I honestly feel that ANY brand factory rifle, fed factory ammo, will perform just fine for the average hunter. From most accounts, Tikkas seem to be very accurate, which makes them all the more appealing...

Should note: I don't think the description above makes a Tikka a "bad" rifle at all! It cannot be denied that there are many hunters/shooters who are happy with them. And in the end, an individual's happiness is all that really counts...
