Got a seekins ph2 with a maven rs 1.2 after doing a good bit of research. Mounted the scope myself (first time for me). Got it in a 6.8 western. Being from NY and the typical range being 100-200 yards shooting a rifle at those ranges didn't really appeal to me so I've been an archery nut for the past 10 years. 2 years ago I bought my own land in upstate NY and have a field where I can take 500 yard shots so shooting targets at extended ranges is now a possibility. I go to NF to hunt moose every other year so I wanted something a little heavier than a 6.5 but also wanted a short action. My Abolt 2 300wsm with a v3 leupold did the job but I doesnt have a break and ammo choices are not the best so I got another gun with stout recoil the has bad ammo choices LOL. At least i can put a brake on the seekins and Im looking into reloading. I really like figuring things out on my own so I will try to get some data and set up my turrets and try to hit a steel plate at 500 yards. I guess thats also my intro to rokslide.
Anyway here is the setup and used my bino harness as a rear support (bag on the way)
Shot a 10 rounds Winchester silver tip and cleaned the barrel because it looked very dirty then sighted it in with the browning 175gr. at 100yards. The 170 silver tip we’re going around 2930 over my garmin chrono. 175 gr 2805 average.
Three shots top left then adjusted and let cool and three more shots. Hitting close enough for now.
Next 3 went a little right probably me but tight.
Next shot went where it was supposed to be the second way right but barrel was getting hot so I let it cool and the third went right next to the first.
Overall very happy with this rifle and how it’s shooting with factory ammo with a newb behind it. Got some 165 ablr coming to test out. Thanks for reading. I know this is nothing new for a lot of you guys but it’s pretty exciting for me.
