no hood, i hate hoods. but i always have a beanie on when hunting. light weight one in early season heavy one in late season. one good reason not to have a hood is you can use this jacket to suppliment your sleeping bag if temps drop,in my opinion a hood would be real uncomfertable to sleep in

Don't you use the hood on your sleeping bag?

I'll repeat a lot of what has already been said. No hood for me, for the same reasons as Backpack Hunter, Bitterroot Bulls, Ross and others. I agree that hooded coats are warmer, I just wish that they all had removable hoods, so that I could attach it when/if needed so that I could keep it out of the way.

I was going to point out that a hood isn't really an issue for me in terms of it getting in my way. I almost always wear an outer layer over my puffy coat and when I don't need the hood, I just tuck it under the outer layer. The outer layer holds it out of the way.
