Looking at buying a new pressure washer. Thinking of getting a nice one with a Honda motor but I keep seeing the Harbor Freight Predator with the Honda knock off motor for $300 less. Seems to have really good reviews. Does anyone have any experience with the Predators? I want to buy once cry once but if these predators are good maybe go that route.

Waiting for replies on this thread. Reading reviews on these things is a train wreck seems like very few are worth owning. Most fall under the category of when they start leaking not if they leak.

I put an 8hp predator engine on a logsplitter that I built about 5 years ago. Its still running strong and starts everytime. I will say this about pressure washers though. The pump is more important or at least equal to the motor. You want a pump that you can change the oil on. Look for pumps by CAT or AAA Triplex. The lesser grade pumps have a finite life span for a rated number of hours. The higher end pumps you change the oil in them every year and they just keep humming along. Also check out the rotary nozzles if you have not already. They will turn a mediocre PW into a stud of a machine.

Prior to COVID you could get the pumps for many of the pressure washers on Amazon for $60 or so.
The pump is what fails most often. Quickly if folks start up the motor before priming the pump with water.
Unless your doing commercial work I’d expect any decent brand China made unit to last you fine.

i bought a Ryobi from Home Depot about 6 years ago for my painting company. Labels on it read: GCV 160 Honda, 2800 PSI, 2.3 GPM.
I Wash about 5 or 6 exterior homes before painting each summer, plus a few car washes here and there per year. It performs very well. Can't remember what i paid but i am seeing one on Home Depot site : 3000 psi, honda motor, 2.3 gpm, at about $369.
Always have your hose plugged in and turned on before starting motor!
i would be wary of a harbor freight product in this category. they seem like crap to me, but read some reviews and make your own decision. Good luck

Before you buy a harbor freight anything, take a look at the Simpson pressure washers. Honda motors. Pneumatic tires. Excellent availability of parts. Simple and reliable. Lots of reviews out there. I’ve had a 3200 psi model for years and was turned on to them by a friend who’s had one several years longer than me. I’d buy again without shopping around.

I bought the Dewalt 3600PSI unit early last year and LOVE it. Its got a Honda and a AAA pump. It has given me zero problems. Highly recommend, worth the price.

I have this one as well...6 years old and no problems whatsoever.

I’ll second the Simpson pressure washers. I bought mine off of Amazon and I’ve only had it a few months but it works great. It also has a built in down stream injection system. What I learned is the GPM is what really matters and to get into the higher gpm pressure washers the price jumps way up.

Buy one from a contractor supply house or a specialty shop. Essentially anywhere that sales and services the brand they carry
