Matt, The main difference would be the rigidity of the midsole. The Absaroka is almost unflexable, like a Schnee's Granite. A BIG help in the mountains and especially while side hilling. This boot is tailored for steep terrain. The Wilderness is a much more flexible boot with a thinner nylon midsole.

Jason, This is a shorter boot to the Lowa Sheep Hunter, but yes, the last we build upon is very comparable.

Are there stores that carry Schnee boots so I can take a look at them, or do I have to order them?

If you come to Bozeman there are two stores to try them on. If not, then you have to order them.

Pete,

Is this last similar in fit to the old Lowa Sheep Hunter?

The fit will be comparable but the specs are not. Both the Lowa and the Schnee's design their fit to that of a brannock device (the metal thing you measure your foot on in the shoe store). The Lowa was insulated, the Absaroka is not. The Lowa was 10" tall and the Absaoka is available in a 6" & 9" option. The Lowa used Gore-Tex and all Schnee's use eVent, a more breathable waterproofing liner. Call us to discuss this boot more! 1-800-922-1562

I tried these on at the WSF convention...Nice boot. Nothing like the Sheephunter though. Completely different boot.
