Doing some research for this upcoming year for coues deer. I mainly hunt Az and have hunted all over the state but want to expand into New Mexico. Mainly lookin between 23 (Burros and Non Burros) and 27. What is everyone's experiences good or bad in the area? Any does and dont's as far as what to do and not to do in the state. I can share info for Az aswell in exchange. Thanks, Daniel

I’ve hunted coues in 23 and 24 in New Mexico. What I’ve found over the years is that coues are very pockety. Lots of great looking habitat, but not a lot of deer. Between my kids and I, we have killed about 5-6 bucks over the last few years. They’re addicting, but numbers and quality in NM do not compare to AZ.

Any quality? is there a lot of hunting pressure out there?

Not so much hunting pressure as it is hunting opportunity. NM Coues populations are very pockety as @nmarchr said as where AZ Coues are more densely populated. You can be in perfect Coues country in NM and not see a single one, as I've experienced a couple times through the years over there. Haha
