New MDT Mountain and Backcountry Bipods Shot Show 2025

Went with backcountry. Deciding factor was the ability to pan without resetting bipod.

What would make someone pic arca or pic (rokstock has both up front…)

My only bipod experience is a 15 year old Harris so far…

Ordered the mountain to play with, looking forward to it. Wondering if I should have gone with the fancier backcountry arca.

Pic is better if you want simple because of the recoil feature of the pic rail keeps the bipod from slippin under use. Lots of arca accessories will move under recoil unless they are clamped very hard (unlikely on an ultralight bipod) or have built in locking ie Area419 Arcalock, Seeking MRAS, RRS-lock. If this bipod came with RRS-lock I would for sure say get the arca so you can move it up and down an entire forend but if using on a Rokstok with trinity rail, no question about pic version in my mind

I think a lot of that depends on what you plan to use it on. I have a couple xlr chassis’ and a krg bravo with full-length arca rails plus a rokstok with the pic/arca rail. I would get the arca clamp and not think twice because I have no interest in putting pic rails on my already railed arca chassis’. With that said I have had my ckye pods “work” loose before under extended strings of fire and lots of movement but it has not cost me a shot or animal yet (knock on wood). If you only plan to use it on the rokstok then maybe the pic would make more sense

Samesies. And ARCA on/off is just faster. Nothing to line up.

I doubt it's faster the pic is QD with a button.
Possibly. I guess my thought process is dominated by tripods and bipods with RRS clamps that do both pic and arca and arca is notably slicker with such clamps because there's less lining up of where things need to go.

A lever arca would be as fast or faster. Just not in the current option.

Been eyeballing these as well, but had a friend say they were not too sturdy…any comments on that?
I have an mdt crbn stock, so also debating going with an arca or pic bipod, as an mlok to pic adapter is light enough as well…

I would not beat this up in an NRL Hunter match where things get abused. But, for hunting and general use it is perfect.
