I am thinking of having a rifle built & I am wrestling with which direction to go. I’d like the forum’s advice.
The Original chambering will probably be either 7PRC, (70% chance), or 300 PRC,(30% chance.) I am invested in both already & Hornady has not rolled out the .338 PRC yet so it’s either 7 or 30 cal.

I have a suppressor & will shoot this rifle suppressed 99% of the time. Never is an absolute, & things tend to happen, but I do not intend to shoot unsuppressed.

Requirements-
1. Left hand
2. Long Action, MBF
3. Uses Pre-fits that are common.

I already have an AG Composites stock on hand & have been studying on the following actions: all are LA, LH, MBF

1. Kelbly Prometheus
2. Terminus Zeus
3. TL3-L
4. ARC Coup De Grace

Hunting rifle primarily with fair amount of range usage.

Which action would you go with? Why?
What other actions did I overlook?

What trigger?

Thank You In Advance.

I have a built several left handed custom rifles over the years with a mix of bluprinted Rem 700s, Kelbly Atlas, and Curtis Scout actions. They are/were chambered in 6.5Cm, 6.5PRC, 7mm mag, and 300wm. I've ran barrels from Douglas, Lijla and Proof Research, both steel and carbon I also hand load for each..

Most of my builds I had smiths do the barrel work then I did bedding and fitment work and installed Timney triggers. I also do not own a can, yet.

Rem700 actions chambered in a few 7mmMags and a few 6.5CMs w/ Douglas, Proof (carbon & steel) and Lija barrels all shoot .5moa or better with multiple loads in each. Way cheaper builds than my custom actions, but feel clunky when handling and cycling rounds. I sent some bolts off to LongRifleInc to get knobs installed and fluting to help dress up the factory action. They do great work and the bolt know is a welcome mod to a factory bolt.

Kelbly Atlas/Proof 300wm (carbon stock) with light bullets (178eldx) nets .5moa but it won't shoot heavyweight bullets (212eldx/215 berger), even with the fast twist barrel. Kelbly action is smooth as glass and the manual ejection is nice as it doesn't kick brass out in load development and dent cases. Yet it will clear a case when speed loading in a hunting scenario.

Curtis Scout/Proof 6.5PRC (carbon stock) - Shoots heavier bullets .75moa but this is my newest build with least amount of load development. Three lug has taken time to get use to as all shots feels like heavy bolt lift to the Kelbly. Also worth noting that the executivesat Curtis flat lied to me in countless emails for several months regarding shipping info for my order. Very unprofessional to say the least. Needless to say I won't be purchasing one again, regardless of how their actions shoot.

I'll add that I have a $300 Ruger American 6.5cm that shoots sub .5 moa all day long with a cheap aftermarket stock and Timney trigger. Makes me ponder why build custom, oh that's right coz we're left handed.

Up next on my list I feel I need a 7PRC. But I think I'm done with custom builds and leaning towards a Savage ultralight then set it in a Grayboe Phx 2 or Stockys carbon v2 stock. That or shorter versions of current builds to better accommodate a can.

As for things I like - Proof barrels, Timny triggers, and Rem 700 or clone actions as left handed stocks are limited, but getting more prevalent with Grayboe and Stockys lineups expanding.

Good luck with the build.

I just built a 7prc with a Termius Kratos Lite. So far I’m extremely happy with the gun. I went with a TriggerTech Special for the trigger. I don’t have any other experience so I can’t comment on the others.
